Astraeus hygrometricus

Astreus hygrometricus (Pers.) Morgan 1889 is called the ‘Barometer Earthstar’. When it is about to rain, its arms open outward and push the central peridium upwards to enable its spores to waft away when hit by raindrops. It is in the Diplocystidiaceae family of the Boletales order.
