Russula pseudolepida Singer 

has an apple red to pink-red, often yellow-splotched slightly velvety dry cap with a pellicle that barely peels, if at all. Off-white to cream gills are crowded and exhibit some forking. Spores are cream to pale yellow. Stem is relatively short, white, but with red at the base. Taste is mild. It is in the Russulaceae family of the Russulales.
